These are lovely pictures and, as you well know, I've long believed the phone is a great tool for the photographer. I rarely delve into the advanced features because the basic features have improved so much.
I just talked with a friend yesterday. She has the iPhone 15 now and is blown away by the built in camera. But my iPhone 11 Pro is still good and I have my small Ricoh camera which I am very happy with. Your photos are great. thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much very kind of you to say. I took great photos on my i-phone 11 pro. I was very happy with it. I think like most things when you are ready or unfortunately when the 11 becomes obsolete (as they so often do) that might be the moment to make a change. ILooking at your substack you know how to take lovely photographs.
It must've been a great trip! I remember how little I used my iPhone in 2018 when I was roadtripping in Italy. I took my tiny Fuji everywhere. Fast forward to last year in Italy, I shot almost exclusively with my fairly old iPhone 11. A lot has changed. (And not in a bad way. I love to use my phone for photography.)
I swap and change between the two. The phone can be such an easy thing to carry around and the technology has advanced so much. I loved my iphone 11 pro and as per reasons stated above I would have probably kept it a lot longer. Mind you the size of the photos coming out of the 15pro now is quite incredible.
No problem! At one point their cameras were considered superior to iPhones--not sure anymore but they're likely at least equivalent. Thanks for answering!
Love everything about this post. Thank you so much for sharing. Glad I found your newsletter.
Thank you very much. I need to get back into writing more!

Thank you Matt and yes I have to admit I haven't delved to far into the advanced features yet either! x

I'm just thinking about changing my phone for this reason, but am hesitating as I feel I haven't had it that long...
Which phone do you have?
A Samsung S20, and am definitely sticking with Samsung.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about Samsung or how good the camera is.
