Wishing you a Happy New Year 2025
It's not been an easy year for many but despite its difficulties it's been a memorable one for me. I turned 50, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of going to Japan, travelled to Romania, then back to Tangier after 30 years amongst other wonderful experiences.
I hope that this new year is filled with hope, kindness for one another, compassion, joy, friendship, creativity, inspiration and adventure.
As I have said before, we need to enjoy and appreciate what we have and wherever possible make small changes towards a better future.
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis
I am not one for resolutions and have somehow always followed the school year but January is usually a quieter month for me and after that busy moment at Christmas and then the lull between Christmas and New Year where you can hibernate a little it is nice to start a new year with a good workflow and a clean up. I am also hoping to hibernate for a little bit longer but we shall see what lies ahead!
As a professional photographer, a solo one woman band this is what my January looks like. In no particular order this is what I do. Feel free to ignore (obviously) or take what you find useful. Any questions then please do send me a message.
Clean both laptop and desktop - removing files and organising folders.
Purge and organise downloads folder (it’s amazing how many files/photos are stored or downloaded here)
Clear up desktop & organise on the computer (again for me it becomes a dumping ground)
Look at hard drives, back up and order a new one(s) if needed. (very important)
Organise your new hard drive and set up a 2025 folder.
Organise my Lightroom (it takes up a lot of space on the disk). Kim Klassen has a great one to walk you through: New Year Lightroom Check Up.
Send out a New Years card which helps me organise and clean up my contact list (very important)
All accounts for 2024
Clean out (physical) desk and organise random papers, post it notes, business cards etc
Look at my website and update with new work.
Start planning - floating a few dreams and ideas around
Finish off all post production from last year
unsubscribe (the amount of things I’m subscribed to is horrifying)
clean up phone, offload unused apps (double check as I just found out that you are not paying for apps you don’t use)
clean up and purge email accounts (I have over 20,000 emails - 20,000!!! Horrifying!)
Your To Do list needs to come with a trigger warning! Good luck with ticking them all off. I can but dream of doing something similar...! x
Good luck with your list! I don't even want to think about my 3 email accounts...
